Terms & Conditions

Effective date: August 21, 2026  ·  Last updated: August 21, 2026

These terms apply to every purchase, appointment, and event with TaylahMade Co. By booking an appointment, attending an event, or purchasing a piece from us, you agree to what's below. We've tried to write it in plain English — if anything is unclear, ask us before you book.

What we make

TaylahMade Co. offers custom-fit permanent jewelry (bracelets, anklets, necklaces, and hand chains welded closed without a clasp), Charm Bar pieces, engraving services, and private event experiences throughout Fairfax, VA and the greater DMV area.

Our pieces are made in 14K gold-filled, .925 sterling silver, and stainless steel unless otherwise stated. We do not sell plated jewelry and will always tell you exactly what metal you're buying.

The permanent jewelry process

Permanent jewelry is custom-fit to your body and closed with a small jump ring, joined using a low-heat micro-welder. The process is quick and, for the overwhelming majority of people, completely painless — most clients describe a tiny warm sensation or nothing at all.

Because every piece is measured and welded specifically for you, all permanent jewelry sales are final. We size and confirm the fit with you before welding, and you'll have the chance to see and approve it.

By sitting for a weld, you confirm that:

  • You have disclosed any relevant medical condition listed in Section 3.
  • You understand the piece is welded closed and requires cutting to remove.
  • You have approved the fit and length before welding began.
  • You are 18 or older, or have a parent or legal guardian present who has consented on your behalf.

Health, safety & medical disclosures

Your safety comes before any sale. Please tell us before your appointment if any of the following apply:

  • You have a pacemaker, defibrillator, insulin pump, cochlear implant, or other implanted electronic medical device. We do not weld on clients with implanted electronic devices and will not make an exception — we're happy to make you a beautiful clasped piece instead.
  • You have a known allergy or sensitivity to metals, particularly nickel. Our 14K gold-filled and sterling silver pieces are nickel-safe for most people, but no metal is universally hypoallergenic and we cannot guarantee you won't react.
  • You are pregnant. Welding is generally considered low-risk, but we recommend checking with your doctor first, and we'll always defer to their advice.
  • You have a skin condition, open wound, or recent injury at the placement site.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you tell us. We rely on your disclosure and cannot assess medical conditions ourselves.

If you develop any irritation, rash, discoloration, or discomfort after your appointment, remove the piece (see Section 5) and consult a medical professional. Contact us as well — we want to know.

Age requirements

Clients under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian physically present at the appointment to provide consent. We cannot accept consent by phone, text, or note.

We are happy to work with children of any age, at the guardian's discretion, with one exception: we do not weld necklaces on children under 8 for safety reasons. Bracelets and anklets are welcome.

Removal & re-welding

Your piece can be removed at any time — that's the part people forget. Simply cut the jump ring with a small pair of nail clippers or scissors. It takes two seconds and doesn't damage the chain.

Please remove your piece before:

  • An MRI, CT scan, X-ray, or any medical imaging
  • Surgery or a hospital procedure
  • Airport security, if requested (metal detectors are usually fine, but staff have the final say)
  • Contact sports where a chain could catch

Re-welds are $10 if you have the original piece. Save the chain and bring it back. If the chain was lost or damaged beyond repair, standard pricing applies.

Warranty & repairs

We stand behind our welds.

  • Weld failure within 14 days: bring the piece back and we'll re-weld it free of charge. Keep the chain.
  • Weld failure after 14 days: re-weld at $10.
  • Chain breakage from snagging, pulling, or ordinary wear is not covered. We'll repair what's repairable at cost and always quote you first.
  • Lost pieces: we keep your sizing on file so a replacement is quick and exact.

This warranty covers the weld only. It does not cover tarnish, discoloration, bending, stretching, or damage from misuse, chemicals, or accidents.

Engraving

All engraved items are final sale and non-refundable once engraving has begun. Engraving is permanent and cannot be undone.

  • We confirm your exact spelling, characters, and layout before we start. Please check it carefully — we engrave exactly what you approve, including any typo you approve.
  • Engraving on customer-owned pieces is done entirely at your own risk. We inspect every piece first and will decline anything we don't believe will engrave safely, but we cannot be held responsible for damage to jewelry we did not make.
  • We reserve the right to decline any engraving request, including content that is hateful, harassing, obscene, or infringes someone else's trademark or copyright.

Charm Bar & returns

Charm Bar chains, charms, and clasped pieces may be exchanged or refunded within 14 days of purchase if they are unworn, undamaged, and in original condition, with proof of purchase.

The following are final sale with no exceptions:

  • Any welded permanent jewelry
  • Any engraved item
  • Any custom or special-order piece
  • Earrings, for hygiene reasons
  • Sale and clearance items

Refunds are issued to the original payment method and typically take 5–10 business days to appear.

Care & expectations

  • 14K gold-filled is water-safe and built to last for years with normal wear. It is not solid gold; the gold layer can wear over a long time with heavy friction.
  • Sterling silver will naturally tarnish. This is normal and not a defect. A polishing cloth restores it in seconds.
  • Stainless steel is the most durable option and resists water, tarnish, and scratches.

To keep any piece looking its best: take it off before swimming pools, hot tubs, and the ocean when you reasonably can; keep lotions, perfumes, sunscreen, and cleaning products off the metal; and pat it dry after showering.

Normal wear, tarnish, and patina are not defects and are not grounds for refund.

Pricing & payment

All prices are listed in US dollars and are subject to change without notice. The price quoted at the time of your appointment or on your invoice is the price that applies to you.

Payment is due at the time of service. We accept all major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay, and cash. Private events follow our Private Event Deposit Policy (see below).

Applicable Virginia sales tax is added where required.

Appointments & cancellations

  • Individual appointments: please give us at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may mean we need to reschedule you, since appointments are booked back to back.
  • No-shows: repeated no-shows may require a deposit to book future appointments.
  • Private events: see the Private Event Deposit Policy at the bottom of this page.

Photography & media

We love documenting our work. We may photograph or record pieces, hands, wrists, and event setups for our website and social media.

We will never post an identifiable photo of your face without asking you first. If you'd prefer we not photograph your piece at all, just say so — it's never a problem and you don't need a reason.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Virginia law, TaylahMade Co.'s total liability for any claim relating to a product or service is limited to the amount you paid for that specific product or service.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including:

  • Allergic reactions or skin irritation where a relevant medical condition or sensitivity was not disclosed to us
  • Damage to customer-owned jewelry brought in for engraving or repair
  • Injury resulting from failure to remove a piece before medical imaging or procedures
  • Loss or damage to jewelry after it leaves our care

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Fairfax County, Virginia.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version posted on this page at the time of your purchase is the version that applies to you. Material changes will be noted with an updated "last updated" date above.

Private event deposit policy

A non-refundable retainer of $150 is required to secure your event date. This retainer is applied toward your total balance and confirms your booking — your date is not held until payment is received.

The remaining balance is due on the day of your event, before services begin.

Cancellations and rescheduling: If you need to reschedule, we'll do our best to accommodate you with at least 7 days' notice. The retainer transfers to your new date one time. Cancellations with less than 7 days' notice or no-shows forfeit the retainer entirely. The retainer is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Changes to guest count: Final guest count is due 48 hours before your event. Reductions in count after that point do not reduce your balance — we'll have staffed and packed for the number confirmed.
